Automotive: Flashing a Car Topless

I'm getting ready to go "Down the Ocean" this week. It's Cruisin' Ocean City in Ocean City, MD! Around here we call it hot rod weekend. Tons of awesome cars! Getting read for some great shots by the shore, I took a few to work out the setup. Here's why:

This is a nice 2002 Pontiac Trans Am WS6 Convertible. It's a nice car (you better agree, it's mine!). But the shot is pretty boring. I can do better. I ran over to a parking lot near my house to get a little working space. My plan was to use the late evening cloudy sky as a backdrop for my car.

A little better "posing" and I exposed for the sky and trees behind the car. Highlights from some small strobes and the result:

I wanted to go a step further and get a "product" shot highlighting the car. I blacked out the fading light from the sky and got a few of these. I think the dark background goes well with the Sunset Orange Metallic paint. I would like to point out that if you look at the larger picture you can see dust. I had just wiped the car down a few hours prior to these pictures. The pollen was that bad this year!
